Yesterday, a female doctor from AIIMS committed suicide.

She had discovered that her husband was gay.<\/p>\n

But that is not the reason she\u00a0killed herself.<\/p>\n

I read\u00a0the last post on her\u00a0facebook page, and here\u00a0is what I learnt. At the time of the marriage\u00a0she did not know her husband was gay. When she\u00a0noticed he\u00a0never got\u00a0an erection with her,\u00a0she thought it was\u00a0a medical issue and hoped that he\u00a0would be cured\u00a0some day. Then one day she\u00a0discovered a fake gmail account on\u00a0her husband’s laptop and found chat conversations with men\u00a0from the underground gay community. She also found links to gay porn sites and gay porn videos.<\/p>\n

She was shocked. But even then, she was willing to ignore his homosexuality and live\u00a0a life without sex because she loved\u00a0her husband. But the\u00a0husband’s personality changed after his sexuality\u00a0was exposed. He started humiliating\u00a0her and her parents, she says.<\/p>\n

After 5 years of marriage, she killed herself.<\/p>\n

In spite of knowing this I decided to help him to b as a wife with him . But he tortured me a lot mentally .<\/em>
\n And at last night he tortured me emotionally so I am unabl to take breath with him . And last Dr xxxxx (name of husband)\u00a0I loved you a lot and I return you took my all happiness from me. You are not a human being you are a devil , who take away my life from me.<\/em>
\n If someone in our society is like him please don’t marry to a girl to save yourself , you people by doing so not playing only with someone emotions also with a girl and her family’s life .<\/em>
\n If someone had query about me I will undergo medical examination that I never had sex . Dr xxxxx\u00a0I never wanted anything from you but due to your abnormal sexuality you thought you think I need sex from you it’s wrong. I just wanted to be with you accepting you because I loved you very much but you never knew importance of this . You are a criminal Dr xxxxx of my life .<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What lessons can we learn from this?<\/p>\n

Lesson 1 :<\/span> Many gay males\u00a0marry females\u00a0for family ‘reputation’<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

This is very common\u00a0in Indian\u00a0communities where family reputation is more important than the happiness of the children. Only when the situation becomes really bad (like suicides) does it become news, and the public gets to know. Otherwise it remains a lifelong secret.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n

Lesson 2 :<\/span> Love is possible without sex<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

The\u00a0FB post of the woman shows that\u00a0she loved her husband deeply even after discovering that he was gay. She was willing to accept him the way he was, if even though he would never be able to get it ‘up’ with her.\u00a0But unfortunately\u00a0he did not love her and wanted her to go away. I have several\u00a0female clients with\u00a0gay husbands. In most of\u00a0the cases, it was the husband who hired me for his wife who he loved dearly. Typically the husband first meets me alone in a coffee shop to ensure that I am\u00a0‘safe’ and then has\u00a0his wife meet me in a coffee shop to ensure that she ‘likes’ me (while he sits\u00a0a couple of tables away). Finally, if all goes well, he hires a place for us to meet. Just recently, a gay husband hired a luxurious hotel\u00a0suite in a premier\u00a0hill\u00a0resort near Mumbai. His wife and I were in the main room, while he\u00a0was in\u00a0the\u00a0adjoining room working on his laptop. Never once did he\u00a0walk into our room\u00a0or disturb us. He was just there to make sure his wife was safe,\u00a0because he loved her. After a\u00a0few such sessions, when they are convinced I am safe, the wife directly sets up an appointment with me, and just the two of us meet, without the husband, in a hotel room paid for by the husband’s credit card. \ud83d\ude09 The husband is actually glad to find somebody trustworthy like me so that he does not have to be\u00a0there every time his wife meets me.<\/p>\n

Lesson 3\u00a0:<\/span> Society needs gigolos<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

There are countless marriages all over\u00a0India, where the husband is gay but the wife still loves him and does not want to separate.\u00a0Do you expect this loving\u00a0wife to spend her whole\u00a0life without sex? \ud83d\ude41 Many wives do indeed spend their\u00a0whole life without sex. A few develop a lesbian relationship with a neighbour or a family friend. In some cases, a trusted relative takes care of the business of satisfying the wife. But this relative can sometimes cause\u00a0embarrassment. One client told me about an incident in which the relative got drunk at\u00a0a family function and started touching\u00a0her in front of her other relatives.\u00a0The husband had to tactfully\u00a0stop him and move\u00a0him away from his wife. He had to do it tactfully\u00a0<\/em>because the relative\u00a0had the power to slut-shame his wife since he had\u00a0already slept\u00a0with her. These days\u00a0many\u00a0couples prefer to hire a\u00a0trustworthy gigolo whom they can hire, pay and forget, without fear of embarrassment in social functions.<\/p>\n
